Additional findings

Another interesting outcomeof this research was the discovery that males are able to see these targets nearly as well at night as during teh day. Calculations show that the horseshoe crabs' eyes my become 1,000,000 times more sensitive at night that during the day!! (Herzog et al. 1996, Dodge et al. 1998) Details of these calculations and other related work are not presented here, but are a fascinating area of current research that may be explored further by following several of the references presented earlier.
